Prototype of Outdoor Computer on STM32VL Discovery Platform
Leštach, Marek ; Orság, Filip (referee) ; Novotný, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis focuses on describing of an outdoor computer prototype based on STM32VL Discovery platform and building it on the prototyping board. Prototype is able to locate itself with the help of GPS module and received data are recorded into connected MMC card formatted with the FAT filesystem. Information and trip statistics are displayed on a graphic display. Data on memory card are saved in NMEA-0183 format provided by the GPS module in order to be used with a map software on PC.
Educational KIT for MBED platform
Maštálka, Daniel ; Levek, Vladimír (referee) ; Šteffan, Pavel (advisor)
Thesis is about new educational kit based on Nucleo platform, which uses mbed developer compiler. Educational kit is being designed with peripherals which are warranted. Also mbed compiler is descibed and manual is written for it. In last chapter there are five slideshows made for lectures. And five exercises which are realized by students in classroom.
Altered morphology of white and grey matter in patients with Alzheimer disease and Schizophrenia on MRI
Lahutsina, Anastasiya ; Zach, Petr (advisor) ; Horáček, Jiří (referee) ; Němcová, Veronika (referee)
Cortical folding of the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), particularly the cingulate (CS) and the paracingulate (PCS) sulci, represents a neurodevelopmental marker. Deviations in in utero development in schizophrenia can be traced using CS and PCS morphometry. In the present study, we measured the length of CS, PCS, and their segments on T1 MRI scans in 93 patients with first episode schizophrenia and 42 healthy controls. Besides the length, the frequency and the left-right asymmetry of CS/PCS were compared in patients and controls. Distribution of the CS and PCS morphotypes in patients was different from controls. Parcellated sulcal pattern CS3a in the left hemisphere was longer in patients (53.8 ± 25.7 mm vs. 32.7 ± 19.4 mm in controls, p < 0.05), while in CS3c it was reversed-longer in controls (52.5 ± 22.5 mm as opposed to 36.2 ± 12.9 mm, n.s. in patients). Non parcellated PCS in the right hemisphere were longer in patients compared to controls (19.4 ± 10.2 mm vs. 12.1 ± 12.4 mm, p < 0.001). Therefore, concurrent presence of PCS1 and CS1 in the left hemisphere and to some extent in the right hemisphere may be suggestive of a higher probability of schizophrenia. Measurement of an hippocampal area or volume is useful in clinical practice as a supportive aid for diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease....
Plasticity after focal brain ischemia
Hanáková, Helena ; Mareš, Pavel (advisor) ; Zounková, Irena (referee)
The thesis is focused on brain ischemic injury with an accent on subsequent spontaneous and rehabilitation-induced plastic changes related to motor recovery. General part of thesis describes cortical anatomy and pathophysiology of brain ischaemia including classification of ischemia, ischemic cascade and reperfusion injury. There is also a chapter about spontaneous plasticity and recovery. The main part gives a survey of rat models of focal cortical ischemia, of functional assessment and rehabilitation. Results of rehabilitation-induced cortical plasticity are also presented.
Lateral roots and root nodules - similarities and differences
Šnajdrová, Tereza ; Soukup, Aleš (advisor) ; Kulich, Ivan (referee)
Postranní orgány kořene, kořenové hlízky a postranní kořeny, se zakládají endogenně, a až na výjimky mimo apikální meristém. Tyto orgány mohou být různě modifikovány. Některé rostliny mají, právě díky těmto postranním orgánům, schopnost vstupovat do symbiotických interakcí s jinými organismy. Oba tyto postranní orgány spolu s primárním kořenem tvoří dynamický kořenový systém, regulovaný vnitřními i vnějšími faktory.
Primary sensory cortices of microphthalmic mammals, adaptations to habitat and lifestyle
Miklušová, Zuzana ; Němec, Pavel (advisor) ; Druga, Rastislav (referee)
Microphthalmia has evolved in evolution many times independently within unrelated groups of mammals (e.g., rodens, echolocating bats, shrews). Due to such extensive convergent evolution, investigation of mammals with reduced eyes provides a unique approach for understanding the adaptive significance of sensory regression, the impact of peripheral reduction on organization of central sensory structures and cross-modal reorganization or compensation. In this thesis I review our current knowledge concerning the organization of the primary sensory cortex in microphthalmic mammals. In subterranean species (the eastern mole, Scalopus aquaticus; the star-nosed mole, Condylura cristata; the blind mole rat, Spalax ehrenbergi; the naked mole rat, Heterocephalus glaber) is obvious expansion of somatosensoty cortex, which processes tactile information. The sense of touch plays a pivotal role in orientation in their dynamically changing three-dimensional burrow systems. Microphthalmic, echolocating bats whose body is adapted to flight have topographicly reorganized somatosensory cortex, reduced the visual cortex and expanded, complexly organized acoustic cortex. Terrestrial shrews (Soricidae, Insectivora) do not posses any specific adaptations at level of the sensory cortex. Interestingly, their primary visual cortex is...
